Who We Are
This Privacy Policy applies to National Tax Tools (nationaltaxtools.com), an educational tax calculator and guide platform operated by Munib Ur Rehman. References to "we," "us," and "our" refer to National Tax Tools.
Information We Do Not Collect
To be explicit about our privacy practices, National Tax Tools does not:
- Require user registration or account creation
- Collect, store, or transmit calculator inputs (all calculations happen entirely in your browser)
- Sell or rent the personal information you provide to us directly, such as contact form submissions (note: our advertising partners use cookie-based data for personalized ads, which some state laws treat as a "sale" or "sharing" - see Your Privacy Choices for how to opt out)
- Store Social Security Numbers or any financial account information
- Ask for, or knowingly use, sensitive personal information as defined by applicable privacy law - consumer health data, biometric data, precise geolocation, immigration status, or similar. We never request it, we do not use it for advertising or profiling, and no field on this site asks for it. The contact form is free text, so if you send us something sensitive it will reach us; we handle it only to answer you and delete it once your inquiry is closed. Please do not put sensitive details in a contact message
Information We May Collect
Contact Form Submissions: If you submit the contact form at /contact/, we collect your name, email address, and message content. This information is used solely to respond to your inquiry and is not shared with third parties.
Server Logs: Our web hosting provider may automatically record standard server log data, including IP addresses, browser type, pages viewed, and timestamps. This data is used for security monitoring and performance analysis and is not linked to any personal identity.
Local Storage: We use your browser's localStorage to save one thing: your dark/light mode preference. That preference never leaves your browser and is not transmitted to our servers. Separately, Mediavine writes its own records to localStorage - Grow stores a persistent identifier and a visit count, and the ad management script stores a session record (mv_session). See the Advertising section for what each contains. You can clear all of it at any time by clearing site data in your browser.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors use our pages. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies and collects information such as pages viewed, on-page interactions (such as which links and buttons are clicked, including links to our sister sites and outbound links), approximate location, device and browser type, and an anonymous identifier used to measure repeat visits. We do not use this data for advertising or to identify you personally, and we have not enabled Google Signals or cross-device tracking. You can review how Google handles this data in Google's Privacy Policy.
How to opt out: You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, by using your browser's "Do Not Track" or cookie controls, or by blocking analytics cookies in your browser settings.
Advertising
Current status, as of August 2, 2026. Google AdSense was removed from this site entirely on this date. Mediavine is now our only advertising partner, and two Mediavine components are live on every page: Grow by Mediavine (a reader-engagement tool) and the Mediavine ad management script, which was installed on August 2, 2026. Both begin collecting as soon as a page loads. Ads are not yet being displayed - the ad script is installed and running, but ad serving has not been switched on. The disclosures in this section describe both what happens today and what happens once ads begin serving, so nothing changes for you without it already being written down here. We will update the "Last updated" date when ads go live.
Advertising on this site is managed by a single partner, Mediavine, Inc. Mediavine and the demand partners it works with set cookies and use similar technologies (pixels, tags, and SDKs) to support advertising, and once ad serving begins they will be used to deliver advertising, including interest-based (personalized) advertising. We do not run, and do not intend to run, any other advertising network on this site.
Mediavine ad management script (live now, ads not yet serving). This script loads on every page from scripts.scriptwrapper.com. On load it writes a session record (mv_session) to your browser's local storage and initializes Mediavine's advertising configuration, which includes header-bidding arrangements with third-party demand partners such as Index Exchange, PubMatic, and TripleLift. We verified on August 2, 2026 that it renders no ad slots and no ad frames in its current state. When ad serving is enabled, these are the connections through which ads will be requested and measured.
Grow by Mediavine (live now). This site loads Grow by Mediavine, a reader-engagement and advertising service provided by Mediavine, Inc. Grow runs on every page and begins collecting as soon as the page loads - you do not need to log in, subscribe, or interact with it. We inspected what it actually does on this site on August 2, 2026, and it is more than a widget, so it is worth stating precisely. Grow:
- Sets a persistent pseudonymous identifier in your browser's local storage (a Snowplow analytics record containing a device ID, a session ID, and a running count of your visits). This is not tied to your name or email unless you choose to log in
- Reports the URL of each page you view to Mediavine's servers (
api.grow.me) as you browse - Sets a cookie recording the Grow version served to you
- Performs a location lookup against Mediavine's servers to determine which privacy rules apply to you
- Loads the Unified ID 2.0 (UID2) advertising identity library. UID2 is industry infrastructure for identifying users across sites for advertising purposes
- Collects, per Mediavine, information including your IP address, approximate location, device and browser type, operating system, and usage data - and, only if you choose to log in or subscribe through a Grow feature, your email address in hashed form
This data is processed by Mediavine as described in the Mediavine Privacy Notice. To stop Grow entirely, block third-party scripts from grow.me in your browser or use a content blocker; the site works without it.
Consent and opt-outs. Mediavine's ad management script ships with their consent management platform (CMP), but we verified on August 2, 2026 that no consent interface is active on this site yet - the standard consent APIs a CMP exposes to advertisers were all absent when we tested. Treat the CMP as not yet operational until ad serving is enabled and it has been confirmed working. When it is active it will handle two legally distinct things. In jurisdictions that require prior consent for personalized advertising - the EU, EEA, UK, and Switzerland under the GDPR and the ePrivacy rules - no personalized advertising cookie will be set until you have given that consent, and you will be able to reopen the CMP at any time to change it. In U.S. states that instead grant opt-out rights - such as California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Oregon, and Texas - advertising may run by default but you will be able to opt out of targeted advertising and of the sale or sharing of your information, and the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal will be treated as a valid opt-out request and relayed to our advertising partner. Until advertising launches, the options in Your Privacy Choices below are the ones that apply.
Your choices: You can opt out of interest-based advertising across participating networks at the NAI opt-out page or the DAA opt-out page, and you can limit personalized Google advertising - Google is one of Mediavine's demand partners - through Google My Ad Center. You can also manage or block cookies through your browser settings. Rejecting personalized advertising does not remove ads entirely - you may still see non-personalized ads.
For the specific companies Mediavine shares advertising data with, and each company's own privacy policy, see the Mediavine Partners page. To exercise your privacy rights with Mediavine directly, contact privacy@mediavine.com.
The disclosure below is Mediavine's standard required wording, reproduced without alteration. Mediavine's ad management script is installed and running on this site as described above. The parts of the text below that describe ads being served and personalized-ad data being collected take effect when ad serving is switched on, which has not happened yet as of August 2, 2026.
Mediavine Programmatic Advertising (Ver 1.1)
The Website works with Mediavine to manage third-party interest-based advertising appearing on the Website. Mediavine serves content and advertisements when you visit the Website, which may use first and third-party cookies. A cookie is a small text file which is sent to your computer or mobile device (referred to in this policy as a “device”) by the web server so that a website can remember some information about your browsing activity on the Website.
First party cookies are created by the website that you are visiting. A third-party cookie is frequently used in behavioral advertising and analytics and is created by a domain other than the website you are visiting. Third-party cookies, tags, pixels, beacons and other similar technologies (collectively, “Tags”) may be placed on the Website to monitor interaction with advertising content and to target and optimize advertising. Each internet browser has functionality so that you can block both first and third-party cookies and clear your browser’s cache. The "help" feature of the menu bar on most browsers will tell you how to stop accepting new cookies, how to receive notification of new cookies, how to disable existing cookies and how to clear your browser’s cache. For more information about cookies and how to disable them, you can consult the information at All About Cookies.
Without cookies you may not be able to take full advantage of the Website content and features. Please note that rejecting cookies does not mean that you will no longer see ads when you visit our Site. In the event you opt-out, you will still see non-personalized advertisements on the Website.
The Website collects the following data using a cookie when serving personalized ads:
- IP Address
- Operating System type
- Operating System version
- Device Type
- Language of the website
- Web browser type
- Email (in hashed form)
Mediavine Partners (companies listed below with whom Mediavine shares data) may also use this data to link to other end user information the partner has independently collected to deliver targeted advertisements. Mediavine Partners may also separately collect data about end users from other sources, such as advertising IDs or pixels, and link that data to data collected from Mediavine publishers in order to provide interest-based advertising across your online experience, including devices, browsers and apps. This data includes usage data, cookie information, device information, information about interactions between users and advertisements and websites, geolocation data, traffic data, and information about a visitor’s referral source to a particular website. Mediavine Partners may also create unique IDs to create audience segments, which are used to provide targeted advertising.
If you would like more information about this practice and to know your choices to opt-in or opt-out of this data collection, please visit National Advertising Initiative opt out page. You may also visit Digital Advertising Alliance website and Network Advertising Initiative website to learn more information about interest-based advertising. You may download the AppChoices app at Digital Advertising Alliance’s AppChoices app to opt out in connection with mobile apps, or use the platform controls on your mobile device to opt out.
For specific information about Mediavine Partners, the data each collects and their data collection and privacy policies, please visit Mediavine Partners.
Your Privacy Choices: Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
We do not sell the personal information you provide to us directly, such as contact form submissions. However, once advertising is live, the use of advertising cookies to deliver interest-based advertising may be treated as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) and comparable laws in other U.S. states.
As of August 2, 2026 Mediavine's ad script is installed and collecting, but no ads are being served and no consent interface is active yet. The routes below are the ones that will apply once ad serving is switched on; the last three work today, and you can stop Mediavine's collection right now by blocking scriptwrapper.com and grow.me in your browser or a content blocker.
- Refuse or withdraw advertising consent through the consent management platform, once it is deployed - it will be reopenable at any time
- Enable the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in your browser or extension - once advertising is live we will treat it as a valid opt-out request and relay it to our advertising partner
- Opt out of personalized Google advertising through Google My Ad Center
- Opt out across participating ad networks at the NAI or DAA opt-out pages
- Email us at contact@nationaltaxtools.com with the subject line "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information"
We do not discriminate against you for exercising any privacy right. Note that once advertising is live, opting out will not remove advertising from the site - it stops the personalization, and you would still see non-personalized ads.
Your Rights Under the GDPR (EU, EEA, UK, Switzerland)
Scope. This site is operated for a United States audience. We do not target the EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland, offer goods or services there, or monitor behavior there. This section is provided for visitors from those regions who reach the site anyway.
Controller. National Tax Tools (operated by Munib Ur Rehman) is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. Our providers determine their own purposes for some of the data they collect through this site and act as controllers in their own right for those purposes; the exact role each takes is set out in their own notices, which are linked throughout this policy. We do not restate their roles here because we are not in a position to characterize them accurately on their behalf.
Legal bases. We rely on legitimate interests for server logs used for security and performance, and for responding to messages you send us through the contact form. Analytics currently loads without a consent gate; when the consent management platform described in the Advertising section is deployed, analytics and advertising cookies will be placed on a consent basis in jurisdictions that require prior consent. Until then, if you are in one of those jurisdictions and want analytics off, use the opt-out in the Analytics section or block cookies in your browser.
International transfers. Our hosting, analytics, and advertising providers are located in, or transfer data to, the United States. Each relies on its own transfer mechanism, described in its own privacy notice. We have not independently verified which mechanism each provider uses, and we do not claim one on their behalf.
Retention. Contact form messages are kept until your inquiry is resolved and then deleted. Server log retention is set by our hosting provider under its standard configuration, not by us. Analytics and advertising data retention is governed by Google's and Mediavine's own retention schedules.
Your rights. You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data; the right to data portability; and the right to withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal. To exercise any of these rights, email contact@nationaltaxtools.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).
Your Rights Under U.S. State Privacy Laws
If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, or another state with a comprehensive consumer privacy law, you have the right to know what personal information is collected about you, to request access to or deletion of that information, to correct inaccuracies, and to opt out of targeted advertising and the sale or sharing of personal information.
The categories of personal information handled through this site are: identifiers (IP address, cookie and device identifiers, and - if you contact us - your name and email address), internet and network activity (pages viewed, referring pages, and interactions with ads and links), approximate geolocation derived from IP address, and inferences drawn by advertising partners for interest-based advertising. These categories are collected through our analytics and advertising providers, and are shared with those providers and their partners for advertising, measurement, and security purposes. We do not sell the information you provide to us directly. This site is not directed to minors and we do not collect age, so we have no actual knowledge that any visitor is under 16; we do not knowingly process a minor's personal information for targeted advertising, and if we are made aware that we have, we will delete it and instruct our advertising partner to do the same.
To submit an access, deletion, or correction request, email contact@nationaltaxtools.com. We will verify your request using the email address associated with it. To opt out of targeted advertising or the sale or sharing of your information, see Your Privacy Choices above. You may designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
Google Fonts
This site loads fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com). When your browser requests these fonts, your IP address is transmitted to Google's servers. Please review Google's Privacy Policy for information on how Google handles this data. We have configured the font requests to use standard Google Fonts CDN delivery.
External Links
This site links to external websites including IRS.gov, state Department of Revenue portals, and IRS publication pages. When you click these links, you leave our site and are subject to the privacy policies of those external sites. We do not control and are not responsible for external sites' privacy practices.
Children's Privacy
National Tax Tools is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through this site, please contact us and we will remove it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of this site following any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
